Welcome to Spring! We look forward to welcoming you this year...

We have wrapped up our 2016 Celebration of The York House Inn 120th year, and are looking forward to the arrival of Spring in the North Georgia Mountains. We look forward to another year welcoming guests, just as we have been for thirteen decades. It looks as if 2017 will be Georgia’s Year of Film travel experience. While a few might think we are right out of LA LA LAND already, it is the year for our Inn to showcase not only our connection to film but also our ever bustling Rabun County experience in dining, wine adventures, farm visits, water fun and more antique shopping.

We encourage you to plan your year to visit Rabun County and the York House Inn. Our last year was another banner year for us, lots of new faces and many of our historical repeat guests (the record anniversary stay this year was the 40th ) this year! We were pleased to not only host a press tour to Rabun County, but also several travel writers interested in what we offer. With gas prices still as low as $2.00 per gallon in the area, it will be a great summer for a road trip!

We were happy with 2016’s the lively interest in booking a stay at the Inn, and encourage all to CALL US DIRECTLY and toll – free at that so that we can assist you personally. Last year we experienced a 30% increase in business with not only lots of new individual travelers, but also numerous weddings and wedding parties, birthday groups and family reunions. We appreciate our online travel partners, and are listed in just about anyway known to the traveling public (Expedia, Travelocity,,, TripAdvisor as well as VRBO, Home Away, Flipkey, AirBnB and more) but the best rooms at the best rate are always on our website  or a phone call away.

We always stay active in the “slow” month which appear to be February, thankfully. We managed to not only go to Ecuador for two weeks in February, but we managed more decorating, repainting rooms and adding to the services we offer. We love the new feather top mattress in our suite, the new shower we installed in room #11 as well as the hopeful finish to our long awaited ( started in 1995 apparently) public bathroom on the 2nd floor. We have repainted and re-grouted many of our bathrooms, and have begun replacing our classic blinds with new wood blinds. Those that come prepared for social media and more will be happy with our addition of Cubiemini dual charges and USB ports to our guestrooms. Check out the pictures on our website or blog for more details. We are proud that our TripAdvisor reviews have allowed us to achieve not only the #1 rating in our area, but also the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for three years. We think that is a special award, so thank you for all of the great reviews! The few  “negative Nancy’s” we were reviewed by in 2016 are apparently unaware of our unplugged nature ( yes, no room TV’s).

There are great new things happening in the area for your 2017 visit. We are pleased to have Mama G’s back, Pi by Fortify and the new Wicked Pig BBQ’s spot on Main Street. We have been making frequent trips to the R.M. Rose Distillery in Dillard. A number of groups choose to partake in catering at York House Inn, which was a beautiful option.

We are looking forward to some excitement for this year of Film. Look for some fun things as the offerings pop up on our website! Of course the addition of Deliverance and The Great Locomotive Chase to our DVD selection for the Roc Room helps out. While the time during Rabun County total solar eclipse is already completely booked, it shouldn’t take a 100 year event to take part in our special culture and foods throughout the year. We have had great success with our Honor Bar, and are happy our guests continue to “pay it forward” in the Roc Room.  Ghost Hunt Weekends have been a roaring good time, and are now offered throughout the year (see to book. We hope to begin our “Food, Land and People” weekends, and special canning workshop this year.
Remember things really start moving for Georgia Wine Highway Weekends in March and our festival season rates end September 15, 2017 and then we are off and running into leaf season! It was a spectacular fall last year so don’t miss out!
